During a recent executive dinner forum, hosted by the Financial Times in partnership with ADP, experts came together to explore the future of work and discuss the challenges and opportunities of an evolving workplace.

We discussed:

  • What is the future of the employee/employer relationship and is balance of power shifting?
  • With companies trying to keep up with the pace of change, how can they minimize the security risks that come with increased flexibility on where, when and how work is carried out?

Ed Crooks was appointed US industry and Energy Editor in August 2010. Prior to that, he was Energy editor at the FT, based in London. Mr Crooks joined the FT in 1999 as Economics Editor, and then went on to become UK News Editor. Previously, Mr Crooks was an Economics Correspondent for the BBC, reporting on both television and radio. He started at the BBC as a researcher and producer and worked across several news programmes. He has also been a reporter and Editor for the Investors Chronicle as well as an Economic Analyst for the Institute for Fiscal Studies. Mr Crooks graduated from Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. He regularly appears on national and international TV and radio.

Alexandra Levit

Business and Workplace Author, Speaker and Consultant

Alexandra Levit’s goal is to prepare organizations and their employees for meaningful careers in the future workplace. A former nationally syndicated columnist for the Wall Street Journal and writer for the New York Times, Fast Company, and Forbes, Alexandra has authored several books, including the international bestseller They Don't Teach Corporate in College. She consults and writes on leadership development, human resources, entrepreneurship, career and workplace trends on behalf of numerous Fortune 500 companies including American Express, Canon, Deloitte, DeVry University, Intuit, SilkRoad, and Staples. She has spoken on these topics at hundreds of organizations around the world including Abbott, Aetna, Bank of America, Cardinal Health, Campbell Soup, the Federal Reserve Bank, the Human Capital Institute, McDonalds, Microsoft, PepsiCo, the Society of Human Resource Management, and Whirlpool.
In the last several years, Ms Levitt has conducted proprietary research on the future of work, the millennial generation, gender differences and bias, and the skills gap. She also served as a member of Business Roundtable's Springboard Project, which advised the Obama administration, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the U.S. Department of Defense on current employment issues. She is also a frequent national media spokesperson and is regularly featured in outlets including USA Today, National Public Radio, CNN, ABC News, CNBC, Forbes, the Associated Press, and Glamour. She was named an American Management Association Top Leader for 2015 and 2014 and has also been Money Magazine's Online Career Expert of the Year and the author of one of Forbes' best websites for women. A member of the Northwestern University Council of 100 and the Young Entrepreneur Council, she received the prestigious Emerging Leader Award from her alma mater. The award honors a Northwestern graduate under 35 who had made a significant impact in her field and in society.

Erin Siemens

Division Vice President and General Manager, National Accounts Services

Erin Siemens is Division Vice President and General Manager for the Midwest region of  ADP’s National Accounts Services organization, which supports ADP clients with more than 1,000 employees. She joined ADP in 2007 as an Implementation Executive for companies that had outsourced their HR operations to ADP. She has also led teams supporting client engagement and retention strategies.

She has experience leading both start-up and established organizations. Erin began her career with McKesson. She then joined Keane, Inc. where she was the Global Delivery Leader for a large managed services engagement with GMAC Financial Services, including client, technical, and people leadership responsibility.

Erin has a bachelor’s degree in English from Arizona State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan.  She is a certified professional in Human Resources. 

Brian Little

Head of Human Resources
Zurich North America

Brian Little is currently the Head of Human Resources for Zurich Insurance North America. he has over 25 years of HR leadership experience in top national and global companies. He joined Zurich in August of 2009.  Previously he worked at HSBC Bank, one of the largest international banks in the world, as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Human Resources.  He worked for Ameritech as Director of Leadership Development and as Manager of Organizational Learning.  He worked for Amoco Production Company as a Senior Human Resources Consultant.  He also has experience as an external human resource consultant working with dozens of companies on performance improvement, team building, and executive coaching both domestic and abroad.

Mr Little has a passion for working with a number of non-profit organizations including the Marklund a nonprofit organization that serves infants, children, teens and adults with serious and profound developmental disabilities and special healthcare needs.  He leads a number of charitable giving efforts by employees on behalf of Zurich, including the American Heart Association, Covers for Comfort, Junior Achievement, Hustle Up the Hancock, and the Chicago Corporate Challenge.  He was recognized for leadership with prestigious Men of Excellence Award for 2011 and the National Eagle Leadership Institute Award in 2012. He has a Master of Science from Illinois State University in Organization Communication and Development and completed the Advanced Executive Program at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Ravin Jesuthasan

Ravin Jesuthasan is a recognized global thought leader on the future of work and human capital. He has led numerous research efforts on the global workforce, the emerging digital economy and the transformation of work. Ravin was the lead partner for the World Economic Forum’s ground breaking study; Shaping the Future Implications of Digital Media for Society. He has led numerous large-scale, global restructuring and transformation engagements for his clients. Mr Jesuthasan has been a featured speaker on the aforementioned topics at conferences in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Latin America. He has also been featured and quoted extensively by leading business media including CNN, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, CNBC, Fortune, FT, Human Capital (China), Les Echoes (France), Valor Economico (Brazil), Business Times (Malaysia), Globe and Mail (Canada), South China Morning Post, Dubai One TV and The Australian among others. Ravin has been a participant and presenter at the World Economic Forum’s annual meetings in Davos and Dalian. 

He has been recognized as one of the top 25 most influential consultants in the world by Consulting Magazine. He is the author of Transformative HR and the recently released, Lead The Work: Navigating a World Beyond Employment. He has authored over 25 articles and his article in the HR People and Strategy Journal entitled Performance Management as a Business Discipline received the 2014 Walker Award for the most original and valuable contribution to the HR profession. His clients include six global high-tech companies, eight international financial services organizations, four large retail organizations, a major U.S. motion picture studio, four international consumer goods companies, six large pharmaceuticals firms, five major energy companies and twelve global airlines among many others. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson 22 years ago, he was a consultant with the strategy practice of a major management consulting firm.
